  15. 1 cup curd for serving with salt and jeera powder
  16. 1 tbsp green chutney for serving
  17. 1 tbsp lemon pickle for serving
  18. 1 tbsp ghee for serving

Steps to make to make Khichdi Discs

  1. Wash properly rice and dal and soak for an hour
  2. Then heat ghee in a pressure cooker on low heat and add jeera, cloves and heeng
  3. Let them splutter then add haldi powder and soaked dal and rice, without water, roast them for 5 minutes
  4. Then add salt and water, cover the lid and cook for one whistle on high and 3 - 4 minutes on low heat, now switch off the gas
  5. When the pressure cooker completely cools down then only open the lid
  6. Now take out the khichdi in tart mould, press it nicely, then unmould it on a serving platter, in this way serve the other portions of khichdi
  7. Garnish with grated paneer, papad, hung curd and coriander leaves, all these accompaniments are must with khichdi, as it is said khichdi ke chaar yaar, dahi, papad, ghee aur achar
  8. Serve with curd, green chutney, lemon pickle and ghee
  9. It can be made with any other dal also like chana dal, moong dal, masoor dal etc
